What is an MCP server for social media?

An MCP server for social media exposes actions such as publishing a post, reading comments, replying to messages or listing leads as tools that an AI agent can call. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard that lets assistants like Claude, ChatGPT and Codex use tools from other applications, so the agent can act on your accounts instead of only suggesting what to do. Zoosial's server is remote: you add one URL and authorize it with your account.

How an agent uses it

The agent connects to the server, receives a list of tools with their descriptions, and chooses which to call based on what you ask. You talk normally ("list my leads from today and tell me which ask for a price"); the agent picks tools such as leads or list_conversations and answers from the results. Zoosial exposes more than 60 tools, roughly one per API endpoint, grouped as profiles and accounts, publishing, messages and comments, automations, leads, Meta ads, AI generation, analytics, research and webhooks.

Safety: read, write, confirm

Every tool is marked in the docs as one of three kinds:

When you authorize, you choose which profiles the agent can reach and whether it can act or only read. A read-only connection cannot publish, send or change anything. Zoosial does not hand the AI your social network tokens. You can revoke the connection at any time.

Connect Claude, ChatGPT or Codex

The server URL is https://zoosial.com/mcp. It uses the Streamable HTTP transport with OAuth 2.1 and PKCE.

In Claude (web and Desktop) and ChatGPT, add a custom connector with the same URL and sign in when your browser opens. For scripts or CI without a browser, create a fixed API key and pass it as a Bearer header.

Connect your Facebook or Instagram accounts in the dashboard first. The MCP operates accounts that are already connected; connecting new ones is done in the dashboard on purpose.
Add the MCP to your client and authorize.

What it does not do

Platform rules still apply. For example, Meta only allows replies to a DM inside its 24-hour messaging window; outside it the API returns 422 unless Meta has approved the Human Agent feature for the app.
Your assistant decides which tool to use, so review what it sends in your brand's name.

MCP or plain REST?

Everything the MCP does is also in the REST API. Use MCP when an assistant should operate the accounts; use REST when your own code does.
